Menorca is the second-largest island of the Balearic archipelago. It’s devided from N to S into two very different halves. The N has a rough and rugged coastline mainly sandstone with litte vegetation and coastal islands, dark sandy beaches and a large NP in the NE. The S is rather flat and has smooth cliffs of limy rock shaped by rivers, with coves of white sand surrounded by pine trees. In Cuitadella, the former capital, many civil and reli- gious buildings were built in Italian style in the 17th century creating a historical flair in the city. Cala Santandria with its reeefs and deep caves is a scuba divers ’eldorado’.
